Originally, Jay stated that he met Adnan at the Edmondson Avenue, where Adnan showed Jay Hae’s dead body. Jay openly admits to lying during his testimonies the three he gave all have different stories. The other crucial part of the case that leads one to believe that Jay conspired in the murder with Adnan are the inconsistencies in Jay’s testimonies. By testifying at the new trial, she could promote herself and her book, which in the long run could gain her a lot of wealth. The motive that could be behind her testimony is the promotion of her book called Confessions of a Serial Alibi.

The second trial that is still ongoing, McClain did testify, but she could also be acting out of a motive during the testimony. During the original trial, McClain did not even want to testify, which shows that she was most likely unsure of her testimony.
This alibi witness is named Asia McClain, and according to Asia, she saw Adnan in the library across from the school at the exact time Adnan was supposed to be committing the murder.
Furthermore, Adnan stated that his lawyer, Christina Gutierrez, did not use an alibi witness that could have helped Adnan. In the interviews recorded with the detectives, Jay pauses when he does not know what to say, and Koenig states that she believes the detectives were feeding him lies during the pauses to help the state’s case. His only punishment is 3 years probation, and no jail time. In the trial, Jay is able to avoid the charges pressed against him by providing his testimony during the trial. On the contrary to Wilds’ statement, there are many reasons to believe both Adnan and Jay committed the murder. He states that Adnan’s decision to kill Hae was premeditated, and Wilds told the jury that Adnan described how he would kill Hae Min before it happened. The state’s key witness was Adnan’s weed dealer, Jay Wilds, who admits that he helped Adnan bury Hae’s body. Adnan is currently undergoing another trial for the murder because his previous lawyer did not use a key witness alibi that could have placed Adnan somewhere other than the site of the murder.
